Your high school days seem to be quickly coming to an end and you are probably hearing from parents, family members and counselors – so what are your plans after high school? What do you want to major in?

It can be hard to choose a major when you have no idea what career you see yourself in down the road. Yet, to make a smart choice for your major and the college you need to attend for that major choosing a career path is an important step.

Here are 4 great questions to help you start thinking about your future:

1.What are you interested in? And, the “you” is very important in this question. Don’t rely on what others are interested in for you. Right now focus on what truly interests you  – in school, life, your extra-curricular activities.

2.What talent, skill or knowledge makes you stand out from others? Do you tutor your friends in math because, it comes naturally to you? Have you won awards in high school that could point you toward a possible career?

3.What are your dreams and aspirations? What is your dream job? What aspirations do you have? What kind of life do you want to be living? When do you want to own a house? Where do you want to live? Do you want to travel?

4.Where do you see yourself in ten years? Yeah, it’s a common question in an interview for a job but, it should really get you thinking. Where do you see yourself in ten years? Owning your own business, running for political office, working in a laboratory helping to develop a cure for cancer?

It may seem silly to be figuring out your career path before you even have your high school diploma but, it is not! Think of the time and money you could save in college if you went into those years with a more clear path to your future.
